Rabbi Dr. Mordecai Finley

Rabbi Dr. Mordecai Finley was ordained at HUC-JIR in 1990, and received his doctorate in Religion – Social Ethics from the University of Southern California in 1992. He is the rabbi and co-founder (with his wife Meirav, 1993) of Ohr HaTorah Synagogue, in the Los Angeles area. He has taught at the University of Southern California, HUC-JIR- LA, at Loyola Law School and USC School of Law in the areas of Holocaust Studies, Talmud, Rabbinic Literature, Jewish Law and Ethics, among other courses. He helped found the Academy for Jewish Religion, California Campus in 2001, and has taught a variety of courses there over the years, focusing in Mysticism, Liturgy, Spiritual Psychology, and Professional Skills. He is a former president and provost of the Academy. He also taught various texts and themes in Tanakh for many years at the Wexner Heritage Foundation. Rabbi Finley also has a private counseling practice.
