Zionism sought to make the Jewish people a nation like all other nations.
What could this “normalization” mean if not a detachment from the past, ignoring a 3,000‑year history and the civilization that gave the world monotheism?
Moreover, beyond the remarkable success of building a state, have we in fact become “normal”?
The clearest proof of Zionism’s failure in this regard is that the State of Israel is not considered a normal state in the eyes of the nations of the world, and it has become a target for its enemies. This failure on the international stage further deepens the identity crisis tearing the Jewish people apart.
Israeli society stands at a crossroads: the question of its Jewish character has not found expression acceptable to all parts of Israeli society, and the legitimacy of an ancient people and its state among the nations of the world still hangs in the balance. Instead of Israel abandoning its eternal identity, it must renew it in full sovereignty in order to meet the challenges of a new era.
